Jesus lived Happy!

Hi All

It really has been a strange week for me in many ways. There are many things to reflect on and many things I could write about.

On Monday I was in Epping (Sydney) with my Dad who had just had eye surgery. At one point (when my Dad was in the midst of his operation) I ended up outside the home where a young family of five had been bludgeoned to death just days ago. Then later that day I sat around the bedside and comforted a family whose mother/wife had just lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. Diana Bezer was a lovely lady and she is with the Lord now but will be sorely missed.

The bible says that "The Lord knows the end and the beginning."
The truth is that we don't! - not the immediate end anyway.

My Dad turns 80 next year whic is amazing considering he almost died over 20 years ago when he had 9 bypasses on his heart. iana was only 55 when she passed away on Monday. The young family in Epping who were murdered ranged in ages between 9 and 45 years old.

Who can tell how we will die or when we will die?

Ultimately as a Christian we have a sure and certain hope of eternity with Jesus but our passing from this life to the next is far from certain in terms of circumstance or timing. In view of this How should we live?

I suppose in essence we need to make the most of our days on the earth. For some that may mean, "eat ,drink and be merry for tomorrow we die". For others it may mean a serious lifestyle devoted to "religious pursuits" alone.

As far as I can see Jesus lived happy!
He lived in close relationship with his father taking every opportunity to love others and embrace life in all it's fullness. Whatever sphere he found himself in he just tried to do what his Father in heaven told him to do. In essence this is the Christian life - It sounds easy but unfortunately we often live distracted.

I suppose this week, being reminded of the fragility of life helps one focus on what really matters.

Yours
Peter
