SUPERSTITIONS GOVERN BEHAVIOUR!
I wonder whether you believe in superstitions?
JOHN TERRY the English footballer reckons he has about 50. He admits he sits in the same seat on the team bus, listens to the same CD and parks in the same spot at Stamford Bridge (his home ground).
Portsmouth keeper David James has more superstitions than his club's 'goals against' column. And Paul Ince another star footballer would only put on his shirt when the teams were coming out of the tunnel. These days, superstitions form a part of almost every footballer's pre-match ritual.
It is amazing how many people believe in superstitions. Many reject Christianity but happily embrace a system or life style based on no logical rhyme or reason. "If I do this particular unrelated thing, this will happen!" One asks the question, Why? - but there is no reason!
I suppose for me I would rather truth govern behaviour. For me Christ and his teaching represents truth that one can live by. When we add to that a real relationship with the person who is that truth Jesus then I have no need for the superstitious. For me being superstitious would merely clog up my life with allot of do's and don'ts that Christ has freed me from.
Have a good week Peter
