Gift Day 2011
12th and 19th June
Target Amount $100,000
This year we have six main projects that we would like to support through our annual Gift Day. These projects are a mixture of needs both within our church, in Newfrontiers Pacific Rim and in our local community. We ask you to prayerfully consider what to give to this Gift Day. Thank you.
Peter, Steve & Mike
Jubilee Family Church Cambodia
The Newfrontiers Church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia has grown almost totally with new converts as Steve & Midge have worked and persevered there. We are now entering a new season in the church there with Simon & Becci Brown from the UK taking the lead as we look to raise up a local Cambodian Eldership. This is an exciting but still vulnerable stage for this church and so we would like to continue to support them in every way possible, including financially as they are an extremely poor church.
Dee Why RSL
Grace City Church has had many prophetic words about being in the marketplace and being where the people are. We are seeing the benefit of this having moved first our morning meeting and now our evening one to the Dee Why RSL. This has given us visibility on the Northern beaches as well as providing a venue that is easy to get to and is not threatening to non-Christians. We are looking to raise money to enable us to continue to meet at the RSL.
Bibles for NSW Schools - “The Big Rescue”
Around one million children attend public schools in NSW and WA. Most of these young people never visit a church, and many of them and their families have never seen or read the Bible. While the door to public schools remains open, the Bible Society is making the most of the extraordinary opportunity School Scripture provides to give Aussie kids a personal encounter with God’s Word, through aiming to provide up to 40,000 Bibles for Schools in 2011. We would like to be able to contribute towards this excellent goal.
RSL ANZAC Village Collaroy (War Vets)
For the past 2 years we have made and given incredible Christmas hampers to those who have no support in the War Vets home and have also held Christmas Carol services. Rev. Tony Bradford the full-time chaplain at the War Vets comments, “It has just been a huge blessing knowing that Christian people outside the village care about the lonely people in the village at Christmas time. We are hugely grateful as the hampers bring the knowledge of
Christ to the villagers as they witness your love towards those who are in need. The villagers are so blessed by all that you have done for them”
We would like to be able to provide this service to the local community again this year.
Sermon Streaming
The Pacific Rim region that we serve is geographically large which means that the cost in time and money to support church plants and small churches in the region is high. To be more cost effective we would like to be able to stream our Sunday sermons over the Internet to churches such as Brisbane & Perth who do not have full time preachers. This will also serve new church plants in the region. We are therefore looking for funds to setup the technology required.
The Burdekin Association Inc.
The Burdekin Association Inc. established in 1981, is a community based not-for-profit organisation. It provides a range of integrated accommodation, care and support services to young people (12-21) and families in the Northern Sydney area. All services provided by the Association aim to prevent youth homelessness and family breakdown. We have financially supported this excellent work over the past few years and would like to continue to do so.
