The news story I arrived to soon after getting to Cambodia

Stabbing
"Fatal stabbing in Brookvale, Sydney
Updated: 09:30, Thursday May 3, 2012

A man is being questioned by police after another man was stabbed to death at a bus stop on Sydney's northern beaches.

Police found the victim with puncture wounds to his chest after responding to reports of the stabbing on Pittwater Road at Brookvale, near Warringah Mall, at around 11.40 (AEST) last night.

The man was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital, while another man was taken into police custody.

Detectives have been speaking to a number of witnesses but want to hear from any others who may know of the circumstances leading up to the stabbing."

When I read a story like this it makes my heart sick. This comes from my own backyard. Literally hundreds of people I know
wait at that bus stop. What a waste of a young man's life. Knife crime in Sydney seems at an all time high and the police seem powerless to stop it. One of my own dear friends is facing surgery next week having been beaten up severely at a bus stop some years ago. The pain from violence lives on not only physically but emotionally for many.

I don't know about you but I want to see things change.

I thank God for the number of young men I know who are full of Life and full of God. They bring both passion[about what really matters] and peace into every situation. The bible says blessed are the peacemakers. Can I urge you be a peacemaker and make a difference and an inpact in a socity that at times seem to be bent on violence.

Much Love in Christ

Peter

Where are you placing your Trust?

BLOG - Mayor

I have noticed around the world at present an increasing focus on the theme of deception in Government. Increasingly governments are plagued by enquiry after enquiry concerning backhanders, mismanagement, financial irregularities and to be honest pure deception. For some of you reading this I imagine you would say “nothing’s changed Peter, it’s always been the case”.

I suppose you are right so perhaps it is just a case of the media making more of it these days. Whatever the reality its hard not to become tired and cynical. Over the years I have had the privilege of meeting a number of politicians who really do care and really attempt to walk in integrity. It must be difficult to live in a world where the lust for power and influence is so huge.

Jesus Christ had no lust for power or influence and yet he carries more influence in History than any person who has ever walked the planet. When I am most inclined to cynicism I remember His purity and gain inspiration as I place my trust in Him. To be honest I also remember my own mixed motives at times and try not to judge others.

The bible says we are to pray for those in Government over us. Surely we must do that more!!!!

Yours in Hope

Peter

Happy easter?

 EASTER BLOG

Over Easter I often heard the phrase “Happy Easter”
It was usually uttered by well meaning friends and family who wanted to wish others well.
To be honest it started to annoy me a little because I came to the conclusion fairly rapidly that the phrase in terms of the death and resurrection of Christ was unconnected. Basically people were just saying Happy Holidays!!!

Thankfully over the same period I had the joy of celebrating with a bunch of committed young men and women in their 20s who absolutely loved Christ and passionately rejoiced in His incredible victory on the cross.

What a contrast I was exposed to!!!

Returning from a weekend of Worship was a somewhat surreal experience but makes me more and more passionate to see the truth of what Christ achieved on the cross revealed to the masses of Australians and beyond who really have no idea what Happy Easter is really all about!

As Christians we have a responsibility to share GOOD NEWS. He is Risen!!!

Yours

Peter
