Late Library Fees = Food for Grace City Care
As seen in the Tuesday 24th May, 2016 edition of the Manly Daily by Sarah Swain!
Turn Fees into food at libraries
Donate cans and help the poor
If you’re a bookworm with overdue library books, now’s the time to take them back and help people in need.
Members of libraries of the former Warringah Council with overdue books can donate canned food to Grace City Care in Dee Why instead of paying late fees. The cans will be given to people in need.
Libraries in the area covered by the former Warringah council will waive overdue fees in exchange for canned food this month.
The tins will be given to Grace City Care in Dee Why, which provides food to struggling people on the northern beaches.
Micheal Regan, the former Warringah Mayor who is now part of the implementation advisory committee of the new Northern Beaches Council, said: “A good story has the ability to nourish the mind and by donating canned food, library members have the chance to help nourish someone’s hunger.”
“Whether the book was just too good to put down or life got so busy you forgot to return it on time, now you can wipe the slate clean for a good cause.”
